What can I grill on my Mali Hibachi?

There is not much that you are unable to grill, Choose the right grilling option with a grilling surface of approx 60cm x 30cm. If it fits on one of our optional grills it will work.

How do I protect the table when Grilling?

Our grills are designed to not have direct heat on your tables. The carefully designed wooden legs and space between the grill and table should be enough. As a precaution we recommend placing a fire proof mat under the grill to avoid any damage to the table surface from heat or oil drips. Our Mali Hibachi grill is designed to have the internal fire box and the external grill body absorb much of the direct heat so it avoids extreme external heat from your charcoal.* All grilling surfaces can get very hot so we recommend to take all precautions and wear protecting gloves and not touch the grill directly while in use or while it is cooling down.

Why does Stainless Steel Discolour?

Despite its name, stainless steel can stain or discolour over time. It is natural for this to happen and is usually a result of smoke and heat wearing away at the material, creating a dull patina that puts a damper on the shiny finish. Fortunately, some cleaners will remove most discolouration caused by smoke and heat, though restoring to 100% of its original state is very hard and not guaranteed therefore over time change of colour and surface rust is not covered by warranty.

Caliu grills are constructed from 100% stainless steel, ensuring durability and resistance to corrosion.

They are designed to be lightweight, modular, and seamlessly fit into any space. What sets them apart is their unique design, crafted without assemblies or moving parts, ensuring a sturdy and long-lasting result with minimal components.

Watch the unboxing to witness how easy it is to assemble the grill.

Where can I use the barbecue?

When using a Caliu Barbecue, it's crucial to place it on a resistant surface to ensure safe and optimal operation.

Our barbecues are designed for versatile use, both indoors and outdoors. However, we advise against indoor use unless you have proper ventilation, like a professional kitchen, to manage the smoke generated by charcoal grills.

To maintain safety and prevent damage, always keep the barbecue away from surfaces vulnerable to extreme heat and oil splatters. Exercise caution when operating the barbecue near materials like natural wood or flammable varnish.

Please note that while we provide guidelines for safe usage and offer protective accessories, the ultimate responsibility for the safe operation and placement of the barbecue rests with the user.

For added protection and convenience, we offer a silicone protective mat designed to be placed between the barbecue and the surface. This mat helps to mitigate heat transfer and minimize any mess created during grilling sessions.

What type of charcoal fuel is recommended for Caliu BBQs?

You can use any type of charcoal but we recommend you the coconut shell charcoal in briquette format.

The optimal amount of charcoal for each use is one single layer of charcoal blocks (850g of charcoal approximately).

Do not place charcoal blocks on a pile forming more than one layer. It should be a uniform single layer (3-4 cm height).

Does Caliu barbecues generate smoke?

Yes, fumes are generated in all combustion but mainly the contact of fats and liquids with carbon. Coconut shell charcoal does smoke when it is first burnt, but not much after that.

Caliu are not smokeless barbecues.
